In Mareterra, in the heart of the Principality of Monaco, we were responsible for the interior design of a prestigious private residence, based on a design by the Paris-based studio Affine Design. This collaboration, forged over the years, is based on a clear division of roles: building on the concept, proportions and aesthetic principles defined by the studio, we took charge of the engineering of the construction solutions, overseeing the entire process — from sampling and prototyping through to production, installation and handover of the finished product.

The method
Each room was first tested using actual samples and prototypes to validate combinations of materials—which were often very different from one another—before they even reached the building site. Only then did we move on to the detailed design and actual production, with constant coordination between our studio, the design team and the building site.

The challenge
The required standard of quality and the extremely tight deadlines called for meticulous teamwork: bringing together, within a single element, very different materials, techniques and craftsmanship — from wood to metal, from glass to leather — without any one of them overshadowing the others.
